The real Compatico story

At Compatico, we believe in transparency and want to address the recent media coverage. While a recent member's comments have drawn attention, we are confident in our approach and the positive results we’ve achieved. We’d like to clarify a few key points and share our perspective.

Since our launch eight months ago, we are proud of the progress we've made. Compatico is New Zealand's first premium matchmaking service, inspired by successful international models and backed by extensive local and international market research. We conducted extensive research with hundreds of New Zealand singles to confirm the demand for this service and our community has responded positively.

We recognise the challenges single women face in meeting men, and our female members frequently share this concern with us. This is why we invest considerable effort in recruiting male members, which is one of the advantages of joining Compatico. We are pleased with the steady growth in male membership and continue to see positive engagement as more men recognise the value of our personalised matchmaking service.

Our mission is to guide members through the matchmaking journey with a dedicated team of experts — including matchmakers, relationship advisors, a dating coach, a sex therapist, a stylist and specialists. We aim to make the process of finding meaningful connections as supportive and enriching as possible.

We offer two membership tiers: Platinum and Gold. Both provide access to our matchmaking services, but Platinum includes a personal matchmaker who actively searches within our entire community for their ideal match. Gold members are matched based on their profiles and preferences. While their experience may be less personalised compared to Platinum, they are a valued part of our community and many are dating at the moment. The details of each membership level are fully explained during the initial 15-minute Zoom consultation for those who choose this option, followed by a more in-depth one-hour face-to-face Zoom meeting for all members and a further in-person meeting for Platinum. We are committed to providing value to all members, regardless of their membership level.

Matchmaking is a highly personalised and non-transactional service — it requires time, effort and willingness from both parties to make a genuine connection. There is no guaranteed number of dates because our matchmakers prioritise quality over quantity. Our goal is always to ensure clients feel heard and supported. While our matchmakers invest great care in selecting potential matches, the decision to pursue a relationship always rests with the individuals involved. We believe it’s important to set realistic expectations, as finding a meaningful connection can take time.

Compatico curated events are designed to provide additional opportunities for members to connect in a relaxed, enjoyable setting. These events are optional and have grown in popularity, thoughtfully planned with careful attention to gender balance, age and shared interests. Platinum members receive priority access to events.

In the past six months, we’ve organised a range of activities, including two champagne tasting evenings, a movie night, an art event and lunch, and a styling evening. In November, two more events are planned. Some members enjoy these gatherings, while others prefer not to attend. Event participation is an optional add-on to our memberships, and event fees are based on covering costs and are clearly communicated in advance.
