MEET ELISE | JUNE
Quick-Fire Questions with Elise
Kia ora koutou,
I'm very excited to have the privilege of taking over the reins at Compatico. You'll be hearing from me a lot over the coming months, but for now I thought I'd answer some quick-fire questions you may have:
Who are you?
Good question. My name is Elise, I'm originally from Ōtepoti Dunedin, but went to school in Ōtautahi Christchurch. I started a marketing agency at the age of 23 and grew it to be a team of 6, working with iconic businesses such as Ramada, Hilton, Raglan Food Co, Harcourts, and Ardex, to name a few. Most recently, I've been acting as a marketing consultant for SMEs and startups, and leading a marketing team within a large law firm. On top of that, I write a newsletter called Business-Minded which goes out to a small but very engaged subscriber base every week. Everything I do comes down to people and connection - and that's why Compatico felt like such an excellent fit for me!
On a personal level, I love all things exercise (hiking, running, weightlifting, yoga, swimming); I speak fluent German and basic Mandarin Chinese; I once met the First Lady of Guatemala; and I make a mean apple crumble.
Why Compatico?
Dating sucks, and meeting people in general is really hard. We have more apps and more devices, yet somehow less connection than ever before. I've personally experienced the pain of dating apps, and have also experienced the difficulty of even meeting other likeminded people as life gets busier and circles become smaller. I see Compatico as a meaningful solve to these issues and I'm very passionate about the mission of building New Zealand's safest and most active community for singles 30+.
What's going to change?
I have big plans for Compatico. A core focus is making sure that your experience as a valued member continues to improve, as well as growing the Compatico community. My initial priorities include: formalising matchmaker touch-points; expanding Compatico's geographic locations of events to Christchurch and Wellington; increasing the number of events; and introducing community events focussed on bringing people together, such as pub quizzes and museum tours.
There are a couple of opportunities to meet me in person in July for all those Auckland-based: the 'Meet the Owner' beach walk (coffee is on me), and the Mid-Winter Mingle at Soul Bar. I look forward to seeing you there!
